Mindy Reed was awarded the ALA Mover & Shaker award in Innovation because of Recycled Reads’ pioneering bookstore model, where discarded items from the community and weeded library materials are diverted from the landfill. Reed received a BA in English and Business from Kansas State University, a Master’s Degree in Communications from SMU and a Master’s of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Mindy joined APL in 1996. She helped found Recycled Reads in 2008 and has been with the program since its inception.
